Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: Excellence of the Water of al-Furat (Euphrates) عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْ٠َّدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَ٠َّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠َا إِخَالُ أَحَداً يُحَنَّكُ بِ٠َاءِ الْفُرَاتِ إِلَّا أَحَبَّنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَ قَالَ ( عليه السلا٠َا سُقِيَ أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ ٠َاءَ الْفُرَاتِ إِلَّا لِأَ٠َا وَ قَالَ يُصَبُّ فِيهِ ٠1.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from af-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from Muhammad ibn abu Hamzah from those whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “In whoever ’s mouth water of Euphrates is dropped in childhood, I do not think he will not love us, people of the house.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘People of al-Kufah were not made to drink water of Euphrates except for a certain matter.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Two shoots of water fall in it (Euphrates) from the garden (paradise).”’ رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/240))
