Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: Wine is the Head of all Sins and Evil ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِ٠) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ جَعَلَ لِلْ٠َعْصِيَةِ بَيْتاً ثُ٠َّ جَعَلَ لِلْبَيْتِ بَاباً ثُ٠َّ جَعَلَ لِلْبَابِ غَلَقاً ثُ٠َّ جَعَلَ لِلْغَلَقِ ٠6.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from Ya‘qub ibn Shu’ayb from abu Basir who has said the following: “One of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has made a house for sins.

For this house He has made a door, for the door He has made a lock and for the lock He has made a key, the key to disobedience is wine.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/260))
