Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: Al-Nabidh (A kind of Wine) عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْ٠َنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ اسْتَأْذَنْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) لِبَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ النَّبِيذِ فَقَالَ حَلَالٌ فَقَالَ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ إِنَّ٠َا سَأَلْتُ عَنِ النَّبِيذِ الَّذِي يُجْعَلُ فِيهِ الْعَكَرُ فَيَغْلِي حَتَّى يُسْكِرَ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) كُلُّ ٠6.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘ Umayr from ‘ Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajj aj who has said the following: “I once asked for permission to visit abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), for a certain person of our people and he asked him (the Imam) about al-Nabidh.

He (the Imam) said, ‘It is lawful.’ He then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep you well, I ask about al-Nabidh in which residue is placed, then is boiled until it becomes intoxicating liquor.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘All intoxicating liquor is unlawful.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/278))
