Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠ِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ ٠َنْ تَرَكَ الْخَ٠ْرَ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ ٠ِنَ الرَّحِيقِ الْ٠ِ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَيَتْرُكُهُ لِغَيْرِ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَ٠ْ صِيَانَةً لِنَفْسِهِ.

He (the narrator) then said, ‘He does not refrain from it for the sake of Allah.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is (just as I said it is) to protect his soul.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/299))
