Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْ٠َانَ الْجَعْفَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلا٠ُطَّلِعُ فِي الشِّطْرَنْجِ كَالْ٠ُطَّلِعِ فِي النَّارِ. 16.

Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from Ali ibn Sa‘id from Sulayman al-Ja‘fariy who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘One who seeks cognizance with chess is like one seeking cognizance with the fire.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/310))
