Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Garments made entirely of al-Washy (al-Khazz, garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ وَ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يَاسِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلا٠) اشْتَرِ لِنَفْسِكَ خَزّاً وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَوَشْياً فَقُلْتُ كُلَّ الْوَشْيِ فَقَالَ وَ ٠َا الْوَشْيُ قُلْتُ ٠ْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ قُطْنٌ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ حَرَا٠1.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Faddal and Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yasir who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), once said to me, ‘Buy al-Khazz (garments made of skin or fur of an animal that lives in water) for yourself or if you like buy al-Washy.’ I then asked, ‘All with al- Washy?’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘ What is al-Washy?’ I replied, ‘It is that which has no cotton in it and they say it is unlawful.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You can wear what has cotton in it.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/332))
