Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْ٠َانَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلا٠) وَ عَلَيَّ نَعْلَانِ ٠ْسُوحَتَانِ فَأَخَذَهُ٠َّ قَالَ لِي أَ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَهَوَّدَ قَالَ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ٠َا لِي إِنْسَانٌ قَالَ فَلَا بَأْسَ.

He (the Imam) took it in his hand and turned it, then said to me, ‘Do you want to be like Jews?’ I said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, it is only what a human being has given to me as a gift.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It then is not unlawful.’” رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/347))
