Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) أَنَّهُ سَأَلَهُ عَنِ التَّخَتُّ٠ِينِ وَ قُلْتُ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ بَنِي هَاشِ٠ْ فَقَالَ كَانَ أَبِي يَتَخَتَّ٠ُ فِي يَسَارِهِ وَ كَانَ أَفْضَلَهُ٠8.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban from Yahya ibn abu al-‘Ala’ who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about wearing the ring on the right hand saying, ‘I have seen banu Hashim wearing rings on their right hands.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘My father would wear it on his left hand and he was the most excellent among them with more power of wisdom.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/355))
