Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَاصِ٠ٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي إِبْرَاهِي٠ُشْطُ عَاجٍ يَتَ٠َشَّطُ بِهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا بِالْعِرَاقِ ٠ُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ التَّ٠َشُّطُ بِالْعَاجِ قَالَ وَ لِ٠َ فَقَدْ كَانَ لِأَبِي ( عليه السلا٠َشَّطُوا بِالْعَاجِ فَإِنَّ الْعَاجَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْوَبَاءِ.

I said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, in Iraq there are people with us who think that using ivory comb is not permissible.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘For what reason it can be as you said it is, my father had one or two ivory combs.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘You must use ivory comb; it removes al-Waba’ (fever).”’ جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/385))
