Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Clipping the finger Nails الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ ٠َّدٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ احْتَبَسَ الْوَحْيُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقِيلَ لَهُ احْتَبَسَ الْوَحْيُ عَنْكَ فَقَالَ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ كَيْفَ لَا يَحْتَبِسُ وَ أَنْتُ٠ُونَ أَظْفَارَكُ٠ْ وَ لَا تُنَقُّونَ رَوَاجِبَكُ٠17.

AI-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad aI-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Once a lapse took place in coming of divine revelation to the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.

He (the Messenger of Allah) was asked, ’Has coming of divine revelation to you stopped?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Why should it not stop when you do not clip your fingernails and clean your finger joints?”’ شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/390))
