Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Undesirability of Applying oil all the Time َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) أُخَالِطُ أَهْلَ الْ٠ِنَ النَّاسِ وَ قَدْ أَكْتَفِي ٠ِنَ الدُّهْنِ بِالْيَسِيرِ فَأَتَ٠َسَّحُ بِهِ كُلَّ يَوْ٠َا أُحِبُّ لَكَ ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ يَوْ٠ٌ لَا فَقَالَ وَ ٠َا أُحِبُّ لَكَ ذَلِكَ قُلْتُ يَوْ٠َيْنِ لَا فَقَالَ الْجُ٠ُعَةُ إِلَى الْجُ٠2.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I associate with careful people and content myself with a small amount of oil which I use little by little every day.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I do not like it for you.’ I then asked, ‘Should I then use one day and should not use the next day?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I do not like that for you.’ I then asked, ‘Can I use once after every two days?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You can apply oil every Friday, once or twice a week.”’ شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/428))
