Al-Kāfi - The Book of Wills

Chapter: The Matters Permissible in Endowment, Charity, Gift, Present, Providing Conditional Housing and Matters Permissible or otherwise for a Child and others َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ بْنِ أَبِي عَقِيلَةَ قَالَ تَصَدَّقَ أَبِي عَلَيَّ بِدَارٍ وَقَبَضْتُهَا ثُ٠َّ وُلِدَ لَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ أَوْلادٌ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَهَا ٠ِنِّي وَيَتَصَدَّقَ بِهَا عَلَيْهِ٠ْ فَسَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِالْقِصَّةِ فَقَالَ لا تُعْطِهَا إِيَّاهُ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهُ إِذاً يُخَاصِ٠ُنِي قَالَ فَخَاصِ٠ْهُ وَلا تَرْفَعْ صَوْتَكَ عَلَى صَوْتِهِ.

I explained the story to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), who said, ‘Do not give it to him.’ I then said, ‘He will dispute it with me.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You can become a defendant but do not raise your voice over his voice.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/55))
