Al-Kāfi - The Book of Wills

Chapter: The Will about Something of One’s Legacy ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ ٠ِيلٍ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِ٠) أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَوْصَى بِشَيْ‏ءٍ ٠َالِهِ فَقَالَ الشَّيْ‏ءُ فِي كِتَابِ عَلِيٍّ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠1.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn ‘Amr from Jamil from Aban who has narrated the following: “Ali ibn al-Husayn, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, was asked about the case of a man who made a will about something of his legacy. He (the Imam) said, ‘According to the book of Ali (a.s.), it is one-sixth.”’ ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (23/68))
