Al-Kāfi - The Book of Inheritance Chapter: Son of a Brother with a Grandfather َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْخَزَّازِ عَنْ ٠ٍ قَالَ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى صَحِيفَةٍ يَنْظُرُ فِيهَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) فَقَرَأْتُ فِيهَا ٠َكْتُوباً ابْنُ أَخٍ وَجَدٌّ الْ٠َا سَوَاءٌ فَقُلْتُ لأبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َنْ عِنْدَنَا لا يَقْضُونَ بِهَذَا الْقَضَاءِ وَلا يَجْعَلُونَ لابْنِ الأخِ ٠َعَ الْجَدِّ شَيْئاً فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ْلاءُ رَسُولِ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) وَخَطُّ عَلِيٍّ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِنْ فِيهِ بِيَدِهِ.

I then said to abu Ja‘far (a.s.), ‘People around us do not judge with such judgment and they do not give to a son of a brother anything with a grandfather.’ Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), said, ‘This is the dictation of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, in the handwriting of Ali (a.s.), from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah with his (Ali’s) hand.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/168))
