Al-Kāfi - The Book of Inheritance Chapter: Inheritance of the Crying Newborn Child َيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠َّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِنَ الدِّيَةِ قَالَ لا يَرِثُ ٠ِنَ الدِّيَةِ شَيْئاً حَتَّى يَصِيحَ وَيُسْ٠5.

Humayd ibn Ziyad from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad ibn Sama‘ah from Muhammad ibn Ziyad from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has narrated the following: “About the case of inheritance of a newborn from a wergild, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘He cannot inherit from a wergild anything unless he cries at birth and his crying is heard.’” وثق على الظاهر - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/234))
