Al-Kāfi - The Book of Inheritance Chapter: One who Dies without Leaving Behind any Heirs 1- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َانَ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َاتَ وَتَرَكَ دَيْناً فَعَلَيْنَا دَيْنُهُ وَإِلَيْنَا عِيَالُهُ وَ٠َالا فَلِوَرَثَتِهِ وَ٠َاتَ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٠1.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman from af-Halabiy who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one dies with indebtedness, on us is his debt and up to us are his dependents.

If one dies leaving behind assets, it is for his heirs and if one dies leaving behind no guardians, his asset is part of public welfare fund.”’ حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/254))
