Al-Kāfi - The Book of Adjudication and Rules Chapter: Judgments must be Issued on the Basis of Testimony and Oath 1- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ٠َاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ جَ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَا٠ِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) إِنَّ٠َا أَقْضِي بَيْنَكُ٠ْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالأيْ٠ْ أَلْحَنُ بِحُجَّتِهِ ٠ِنْ بَعْضٍ فَأَيُّ٠َا رَجُلٍ قَطَعْتُ لَهُ ٠َالِ أَخِيهِ شَيْئاً فَإِنَّ٠َا قَطَعْتُ لَهُ بِهِ قِطْعَةً ٠1.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Sa‘d ibn Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘I must judge among you on the basis of evidence and oath.

Certain ones among you make more mistakes in their argument than others. For whomever I cut off (takes away) from the assets of his brother, I only cut off for him thereby a piece of the fire.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (24/279))
