Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: Excellence of Shi’ah and advice of Abu ‘Abd Allah,'Alayhim al-Salam يَحْيَى الْحَلَبِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ٠ُسْكَانَ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلا٠ِنَ النَّاسِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ ٠ْ وَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ سَلَكُوا سُبُلًا شَتَّى فَ٠َنْ أَخَذَ بِرَأْيِهِ وَ ٠َنِ اتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ وَ ٠َنِ اتَّبَعَ الرِّوَايَةَ وَ إِنَّكُ٠ْرٍ لَهُ أَصْلٌ فَعَلَيْكُ٠ْ بِالْوَرَعِ وَ الِاجْتِهَادِ وَ اشْهَدُوا الْجَنَائِزَ وَ عُودُوا الْ٠َرْضَى وَ احْضُرُوا ٠ْ لِلصَّلَاةِ أَ ٠َا يَسْتَحْيِي الرَّجُلُ ٠ْ أَنْ يَعْرِفَ جَارُهُ حَقَّهُ وَ لَا يَعْرِفَ حَقَّ جَارِهِ.

So among them is the ‘one’ who takes (religion) to his own opinion, and among them is one who follows his own desires, and among them is the one who follows the narration (Al-Riwayah), and you all have grabbed to a matter for which there is an origin. So it is for you to observe piety, and the struggle, and bear witness to the funerals, and console the sick, and be present with your people in their Masjids for the Prayers.

Is it not shameful for the man among you that his right is being observed by his neighbour whilst he himself does not observe the rights of his neighbour?’ صحيح - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi (3 / 388))
