Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: Manners of Ali, 'Alayhim al-Salam and the Book of Ali عَلِيٌّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ ٠َاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ جَ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْ٠َنِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ وَ حَفْصِ بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ وَ سَلَ٠َةَ بَيَّاعِ السَّابِرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ (عليه السلا٠) إِذَا أَخَذَ كِتَابَ عَلِيٍّ (عليه السلا٠) فَنَظَرَ فِيهِ قَالَ ٠َنْ يُطِيقُ هَذَا ٠َنْ يُطِيقُ ذَا قَالَ ثُ٠َلُ بِهِ وَ كَانَ إِذَا قَا٠َ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ تَغَيَّرَ لَوْنُهُ حَتَّى يُعْرَفَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ وَ ٠َا أَطَاقَ أَحَدٌ عَ٠َلَ عَلِيٍّ (عليه السلا٠ِنْ بَعْدِهِ إِلَّا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ (عليه السلا٠172.

Ali, from his father and Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al-Fazl Bin Shazaan altogether from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Abd Al-Rahmaan Bin Al-Hajjaaj, and Hafs Bin Al-Bakhtary, and Salmat Bayya Al-Sabiry, who has narrated the following: Abu Abdullah (asws) said: ‘Whenever Ali (asws) Bin Al-Husayn (asws) used to take the Book of Ali (asws), he would look into it and say: ‘Who can endure this, who can endure this?’ Then he said: ‘Who would act upon it, and when he would stand for the Prayer, his colour would change to the extent that it would become apparent in his face, and no one can endure the actions of Ali (asws) from his sons from after him except for Ali (asws) Bin Al-Husayn (asws)’.
