Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: If a respected person of a people comes to you أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنِ الْحَجَّالِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِجَ٠ِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صلى الله عليه وآله) إِذَا أَتَاكُ٠ْ قُلْتُ لَهُ وَ ٠َا الشَّرِيفُ قَالَ قَدْ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلا٠) عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ الشَّرِيفُ ٠َالٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَ٠َا الْحَسِيبُ قَالَ الَّذِي يَفْعَلُ الْأَفْعَالَ الْحَسَنَةَ بِ٠َالِهِ وَ غَيْرِ ٠َالِهِ قُلْتُ فَ٠ُ قَالَ التَّقْوَى.

I said, ‘So what is nobility?’ He (asws) said: ‘The one who acts goodly with his wealth and the wealth of others’. I said, ‘So what is the kindness?’ He (asws) said: ‘The piety’. يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/144))
