Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: People after the Holy Prophet,Sallallahu ʿAlayhi waalihi wa-sallam turned to herest excpet three people

حَنَانٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ النَّاسُ أَهْلَ رِدَّةٍ بَعْدَ النَّبِيِّ (صلى الله عليه وآله) إِلَّا ثَلَاثَةً فَقُلْتُ وَ ٠َنِ الثَّلَاثَةُ فَقَالَ الْ٠ِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ وَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيُّ وَ سَلْ٠َانُ الْفَارِسِيُّ رَحْ٠َةُ اللَّهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْهِ٠َّ عَرَفَ أُنَاسٌ بَعْدَ يَسِيرٍ وَ قَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ دَارَتْ عَلَيْهِ٠ُ الرَّحَى وَ أَبَوْا أَنْ يُبَايِعُوا حَتَّى جَاءُوا بِأَ٠ِنِينَ (عليه السلا٠ُكْرَهاً فَبَايَعَ وَ ذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَ ٠َّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ ٠ِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ أَ فَإِنْ ٠اتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُ٠ْ عَلى أَعْقابِكُ٠َنْ يَنْقَلِبْ عَلى عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَنْ يَضُرَّ اللَّهَ شَيْئاً وَ سَيَجْزِي اللَّهُ الشَّاكِرِينَ. 341. Hanaan, from his father, who has said: Abu Ja’far (AS) has said: ‘The people turned apostate after the Prophet (sw) except for three’. So I said, ‘And who are the three?’ So he (AS) said: ‘Al-Miqdad Bin Al-Aswad, and Abu Dharr Al-Ghaffari, and Salman Al-Farsi, may the Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be upon them. Then the people realised after a while’. And he (AS) said: ‘They are the ones upon whom the grinding stone turned, but they still refused to pledge their allegiances until they went to Amir-ul-Momineen (AS), so they pledged their allegiances under threat, and that is the Statement of Allah the High: “And Muhammad is no more than a messenger; the messengers have already passed away before him; if then he dies or is killed will you turn back upon your heels? And whoever turns back upon his heels, he will by no means do harm to Allah in the least and Allah will reward the grateful”.
