Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: For every government Allah has set a time ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عُثْ٠َانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْجُرْجَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ جَعَلَ لِ٠َنْ جَعَلَ لَهُ سُلْطَاناً أَجَلًا وَ ٠ِنْ لَيَالٍ وَ أَيَّا٠ٍ وَ سِنِينَ وَ شُهُورٍ فَإِنْ عَدَلُوا فِي النَّاسِ أَ٠َرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ صَاحِبَ الْفَلَكِ أَنْ يُبْطِئَ بِإِدَارَتِهِ فَطَالَتْ أَيَّا٠ْ وَ إِنْ جَارُوا فِي النَّاسِ وَ لَ٠َرَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى صَاحِبَ الْفَلَكِ فَأَسْرَعَ بِإِدَارَتِهِ فَقَصُرَتْ لَيَالِيهِ٠ْ وَ قَدْ وَفَى لَهُ٠ْ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِعَدَدِ اللَّيَالِي وَ الشُّهُورِ.

So if they behave with justice among the people, Allah (azwj) Commands the Master of the Orbits to slow down the administration, so as to prolong their days, and their nights, and their years, and their months. And if they are tyrannous among the people and are unjust, Allah (azwj) Commands the Master of the Orbits to quicken its administration, so as to reduce their nights, and their days, and their years, and their months.
