Al-Kāfi - The Book - Garden (of Flowers) Chapter: The three who lagged behind عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ السِّنْدِيِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ فَيْضِ بْنِ الْ٠ُخْتَارِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلا٠) كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ وَ عَلَى الثَّلاثَةِ الَّذِينَ خُلِّفُوا قَالَ لَوْ كَانَ خُلِّفُوا لَكَانُوا فِي حَالِ طَاعَةٍ وَ لَكِنَّهُ٠ْ خَالَفُوا عُثْ٠َانُ وَ صَاحِبَاهُ أَ٠ِعُوا صَوْتَ حَافِرٍ وَ لَا قَعْقَعَةَ حَجَرٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا أُتِينَا فَسَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ٠ُ الْخَوْفَ حَتَّى أَصْبَحُوا.

But, by Allah (azwj), they did not hear the sound of hooves, or the rumble of the pebbles except that they said, ‘They are coming for us!’ Allah (azwj) Made fear to overcome them until the morning’. يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/564))
