Al-Khiṣāl - Part 4: On Four-Numbered Characteristics Chapter: Admonishment against friendship with four people د بن الحسن رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن ٠د بن عيسى بن عبيد، عن القاس٠د بن يوسف بن القاس٠الكاتب، عن حنان بن سدير الصيرفي، عن سدير الصيرفي قال: قال أبوجعفر عليه السلاÙ: لا تقارن ولا تواخ أربعة: الاح٠ق والبخيل والجبان والكذاب، أ٠ق فانه يريد أن ينفعك فيضرك، وأ٠ا البخيل فانه يأخذ ٠ا الجبان فإنه يهرب عنك وعن والديه، وأ٠ا الكذاب فإنه يصدق ولا يصدق 4-100 Muhammad ibn al-Hassan - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Sa’ed ibn Abdullah quoted Muhammad ibn Isa ibn Ubayd, on the authority of Al-Qasim ibn Yusuf - the brother of Ahmad ibn Yusuf ibn al-Qasim al-Katib, on the authority of Han’nan ibn Sadeer al-Sayrafi, on the authority of Sadeer al-Sayrafi that Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (MGB) said, “Do not associate or become friends with the following four people: stupid fellows; jealous people; cowards; and liars.

Stupid fellows wish to help you get some benefits, but they will bring you a loss. Jealous people will take from you, but will not give anything in return. Cowards will run away when you need help. They will even run away from their own parents when they need help. Liars may often tell the truth, but no one would believe them.”
