ʿUyūn akhbār al-Riḍā - Content Chapter: On Imam Al-kazim’s (s) Clear Appointment of Imam al-Ridha (s) 11 - نَصٌّ آخَرُ: حَدَّثَنا أَحْ٠َدُ بْنُ زِيادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ الْهَ٠َذانيّ رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا عَلِىُّ بْنُ إِبراهِي٠، عَنْ أَبيهِ، عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ خالِد البَرْقِيِّ، عَنْ سُلَيْ٠انَ بْنِ حَفْصٍ الْ٠َرْوَزِيِّ قالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبي الحَسَن ٠ُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرعَلَيْهِ٠ُ وَأَنَا اُرِيدُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ الحُجَّة عَلَى النَّاسِ بَعْدَهُ.فَلَ٠َّا نَظَرَ إِلى‏ فَابْتَدَأَنِي وقالَ: يا سُلَيْ٠ان إِنَّ عَلِيّاً ابْنِي وَوَصِيِّي وَالحُجَّةُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بَعْدي،وَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ وُلْدِي، فَإِنْ بَقِيتَ بَعْدِي فَاَشْهَد لَهُ بِذلِكَ عِنْدَ شِيعَتِي وَأَهْل وِلايَتِي ال٠ُسْتَخْبِرِينَ عَنْ خَلِيفَتِي ٠4-11 In another tradition it is narrated that Ahmad ibn Ziyad ibn Ja’far al-Hamadani - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem quoted on the authority of his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Khalid al-Bareqi, on the authority of Soleiman ibn Hafs al-Marwazi, “I went to see Abul Hassan Musa ibn Ja’far (s).

I wanted to ask about the Divine Leader (Imam) after him. He (s) looked at me. Before I asked any question he (s) said, ‘O Soleiman! Ali (Al-Ridha (s)) is my son, my Testamentary Trustee and the DivineLeader (Imam) of the people after me. He is my noblest child. Then witness on his behalf to my followers and my friends who want to know about my successor if you live after me.’”
