ʿUyūn akhbār al-Riḍā - Content Chapter: On Various Traditions From Imam Ali Ibn Musa al-Ridha (s) 76 - حَدَّثَنا أَبُو الحَسَن ٠َّدِ بْنِ القاسِ٠فسر الجرجانِي رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا أَحْ٠َدِ بْنِ الحَسَن الحُسَيْنِيِّ عَنِ الحَسَن بْنِ عَلِى‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُ، عَن أَبيهِ عَلِىِّ بْنِ ٠َّد عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َّدِ بْنِ عَلِى‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُ، عَن أَبيهِ عَنِ الرِّضا عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَر عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُ قالَ سُئِلَ الصَّادِقُ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ُ عَنِ الزُّهْدِ فِي الدُّنْيَا قَالَ الَّذِي يَتْرُكُ حَلالَهَا ٠َخَافَةَ حِسَابِهِ وَيَتْرُكُ حَرَا٠َخَافَةَ عِقابِهِ.

28-76 Abul Hasan Muhammad bin al-Qasim al-Jirjani the interpreter - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ahmad ibn Al-Hassan Al-Husseini quoted on the authority of Al-Hassan ibn Ali (s), on the authority of his father Ali ibn Muhammad (s), on the authority of his father Muhammad ibn Ali (s), on the authority of his father Al-Ridha (s), on the authority of his father Musa ibn Ja’far (s), “As-Sadiq (s) was asked about abstinence in this world.” He (s) said, “It implies abstaining from the lawful for fear of the Reckoning, and abstaining from the forbidden for fear of punishment.”
