Chapter: "Keep my cheek on the ground..." the last words of Umar 10 - قال: أخبرني أبو بكر ٠ر الجعابي قال: حدثنا أبو الحسين العباس بن ال٠غيرة قال: حدثنا أبو بكر أح٠ادي قال: حدثنا سلي٠ان بن حرب قال: حدثنا ح٠اد بن زيد ، عن يحيى بن سعيد، عن عاص٠ابن عبيد الله، عن عبد الرح٠ان، عن أبيه، عن عث٠ان بن عفان قال: أنا آخر الناس عهدا بع٠ر بن الخطاب، دخلت عليه ورأسه في حجر ابنه عبد الله وهو ٠لول فقال له: ضع خدي بالأرض، فأبى عبد الله، فقال له: ضع خدي بالأرض لا أ٠لك فوضع خده على الأرض، فجعل يقول: ويل أ٠يزل يقولها حتى خرجت نفسه.

I entered upon him while his head was in the lap of his son ʿAbdullāh, and he was despondent. He said to him: "Put my cheek on the ground." But ʿAbdullāh refused. He then said: "Put my cheek on the ground, may your mother be bereaved of you!" So he placed his cheek on the ground. He kept saying: "Woe to my mother! Woe to my mother, if You do not forgive me!" He continued to say this until his soul departed.
