`Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn `Imran al-Daqqaq (RA) said: Muhammad ibn Abu `Abd Allah al-Kufi, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Isma`il al-Barmaki, on the authority of alHusayn ibn al-Hasan, on the authority of Bakr ibn Salih, on the authority of al-Husayn ibn Sa`id that Abu Ja`far the Second (Imam Muhammad al-Taqi (AS) was asked: âIs it permissible to say that Allah is a Thing?
Hence, he (AS) answered: âYes, to the extent that it removes Him from the two extremes: annulment [ta`til] and anthropomorphism [tashbih].â
