Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Rewards Chapter: Reward of Hajj and Umrah َّدٍ ره قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِی٠َ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ یَحْیَی وَ ٠َّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُ٠ُعَاوِیَهَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: لَ٠َّا أَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص تَلَقَّاهُ أَعْرَابِیٌّ فِی أَفْطَحَ فَقَالَ یَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّی خَرَجْتُ أُرِیدُ الْحَجَّ فَعَاقَنِی عَائِقٌ وَ أَنَا رَجُلٌ ٠َلِیٌّ کَثِیرُ الْ٠َا بَلَغَ الْحَاجُّ قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِلَی أَبِی قُبَیْسٍ فَقَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ أَبَا قُبَیْسٍ لَکَ زِنَهَ ذَهَبَهٍ حَ٠ْرَاءَ أَنْفَقْتَهُ فِی سَبِیلِ اللَّهِ ٠َا بَلَغَ الْحَاجُّ.

I have wealth; tell me something, which I can do and gain the reward of performing Hajj.” The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) pointed at Mount Abu Qubais and replied, “If you have a quantity of red gold equal to Mount Abu Qubais and you spend it in the way of Allah then too you won’t get the reward of Hajj.”
