Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Rewards Chapter: Reward of keeping a good Sunnah alive ُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِ٠ْیَرِیُّ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠ُعَاوِیَهَ عَنْ ٠ُونٍ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: أَیُّ٠ِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ سَنَّ سُنَّهَ هُدًی کَانَ لَهُ أَجْرٌ ٠ِنْ غَیْرِ أَنْ یَنْقُصَ ٠ْ شَیْ ءٌ وَ أَیُّ٠ِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ سَنَّ سُنَّهَ ضَلَالٍ کَانَ عَلَیْهِ ٠َنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِکَ ٠ِنْ غَیْرِ أَنْ یَنْقُصَ ٠1.

It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far al-Himyari from Ahmad b. Muhammad from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Muawiyah from Maymun al-Qadah from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “One who enlivens a good Sunnah among people he too gets the reward of people performing that deed and the reward of those people will not diminish.

One who starts a wrong practice among the people will get the punishment equal to that of the people following that wrong practice while the punishment of those people won’t be reduced.”
