Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Rewards Chapter: Reward of doing good and bad deeds secretly َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی ٠َّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنْ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع قَالَ: الْ٠ُسْتَتِرُ بِالْحَسَنَهِ تَعْدِلُ سَبْعِینَ حَسَنَهً وَ الْ٠ُذِیعُ بِالسَّیِّئَهِ ٠ُسْتَتِرُ بِالسَّیِّئَهِ ٠1.

It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Muhammad b. Isa from Abbas b. Hilal who said I heard Aba al-Hassan al-Ridha (a.s.) who said: “A good deed done secretly is better than seventy good deeds and one who sins openly will not be helped. One who sins secretly, may be forgiven.”
