Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Rewards Chapter: Reward of respecting an elderly person after knowing his excellence أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَ٠َهُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ یَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص ٠َنْ عَرَفَ فَضْلَ شَیْخٍ کَبِیرٍ فَوَقَّرَهُ لِسِنِّهِ آ٠ِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِجْلَالُ ذِی الشَّیْبَهِ الْ٠1.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who knows the excellence of an elderly person and honors him, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime will grant him salvation from fear on the Day of Judgment.” And he said, “Respecting an elderly believer is a way of showing respect to Allah, the Mighty and Sublime.”
