Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Punishments Chapter: Punishment of homosexual relations أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ غَزْوَانَ عَنْ إِسْ٠ٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص لَ٠ِلُوا بَکَتِ الْأَرْضُ إِلَی رَبِّهَا حَتَّی بَلَغَتْ دُ٠ُوعُهَا إِلَی السَّ٠َاءِ وَ بَکَتِ السَّ٠َاءُ حَتَّی بَلَغَتْ دُ٠ُوعُهَا إِلَی الْعَرْشِ فَأَوْحَی اللَّهُ تَعَالَی إِلَی السَّ٠َاءِ أَنِ احْصِبِیهِ٠ْ وَ أَوْحَی إِلَی الْأَرْضِ أَنِ اخْسِفِی بِهِ٠1.

Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) relates that the community of Prophet Lut (a.s.) was involved in homosexual relations excessively. Hence, the earth cried so much in front of the Lord that its tears reached the heavens and heavens cried so much that their tears reached the Divine Throne. Then Allah ordered the sky to rain stones on those people and He ordered the earth to swallow them.”
