Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Punishments Chapter: Punishment of falsely testifying to the disbelief of a believer أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی أَحْ٠َدُ بْنُ إِدْرِیسَ عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ عَنْ عَ٠ْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: ٠َا شَهِدَ رَجُلٌ عَلَی رَجُلٍ بِکُفْرٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا فَاتَهُ أَحَدُهُ٠َا إِنْ کَانَ شَهِدَ عَلَی کَافِرٍ صَدَقَ وَ إِنْ کَانَ ٠ِناً رَجَعَ الْکُفْرُ عَلَیْهِ وَ إِیَّاکُ٠ْ وَ الطَّعْنَ عَلَی الْ٠1.

My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Ahmad b. Idris from Ahmad b. Abdillah from his father from Ahmad b. al-Nadhr from ’Amru b. Shimr from Jabir from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “One who testifies the disbelief of someone, there can be only two cases viz. either the person is testifying about a disbeliever or this disbelief returns to him. Hence keep away from ridiculing a believer.”
