Chapter: The Verses in Qur’an about the Martyrdom of Ĥusain (a.s.) and the Avenging of His Blood 3 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رح٠ه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ وَ إِبْرَاهِي٠َّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ إِذَا الْ٠َوْؤُدَةُ سُئِلَتْ.

بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ قَالَ نَزَلَتْ فِي الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ع 3.

My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Ya’qūb ibn Yazīd, and from Ibrāhīm ibn Hāshim, from Muḥammad ibn Abī ‘Umayr, from some of his scholars, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) explained the verse, “When the soul buried alive is asked for what sin it was put to death” (81:8-9) by saying, “This verse was revealed about Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.).”
