فقال له: إن كنت كما تقول يا أبا بكر اريد أن أسألك عن أشياء قال: اسأل عما بدالك وما تريد By the chain, raising it to Anas Bin Malik who said, ‘A Jew entered (Medina) during the Caliphate of Abu Bakr and said, ‘I want the Caliph of Rasool-Allah -saww ’.

So, they came with him to Abu Bakr, and the Jew said to him, ‘Are you the Caliph of Rasool-Allah -saww ?’ He said, ‘Yes, do you not see me being in his -saww place and his -saww Prayer Niche?’ He said to him, ‘If you were just as you are saying, O Abu Bakr, I want to ask you about certain things’.

He said, ‘Ask about whatever comes to you, and what do you want?’ فقال اليهودي: أخبرني عماليس لله، وعما ليس عند الله، وعما لا يعلمه الله فقال عند ذلك أبو بكر: هذه مسائل الزنادقة يا يهودي، فعند ذلك هم المسلمون بقتله، وكان فيمن حضر ابن عباس رضي الله عنه فزعق بالناس وقال: يا أبا بكر امهل في قتله قال له: أما سمعت ما قد تكلم به ؟ فقال ابن عباس: فإن كان جوابه عندكم وإلا فأخر جوه حيث شاء من الارض The Jew said, ‘Inform me about what isn’t for Allah -azwj , and about what isn’t with Allah -azwj , and about what Allah -azwj does not know’.

At that, Abu Bakr said, ‘These are questions of the atheists, O Jew!’ At that, the Muslims thought of killing him, and among the ones present was Ibn Abbas, and he shouted at the people and said, ‘O Abu Bakr! Respite regarding his killing’. He said to him, ‘Did you not hear what he has spoken with?’ Ibn Abbas said, ‘If his answers were with you (then fine), or else throw him out wherever you so desire from the earth’.

قال: فأخرجوه وهو يقول: لعن الله قوما جلسوا في غير مراتبهم يريدون قتل النفس التي قدحرم الله بغير علم. He said, ‘Then expel him’, and he was saying, ‘May Allah -azwj Curse a people who are sitting it other than their ranks intending to kill the soul which Allah -azwj has Prohibited, without (them) having any knowledge’.
