Who are my reliable friends?

Who are my reliable friends?’ Imam -asws replied: ‘They are those who do good to their believing brothers despite their straitened circumstances.’ قال الصدوق : وقال الصادق ( عليه السلام ) : من لم يقدر على صلتنا فليصل صالحي موالينا (1) يكتب له ثواب صلتنا ، ومن لم يقدر على زيارتنا فليزر صالحي موالينا (2) يكتب له ثواب زيارتنا Sheykh Sadouq has narrated from the Holy Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq -asws that: ‘Whoever does not have the ability to do favours to Us -asws should do favours to the good among our Shia, in his book of deed it will be written that he has done favours to Us -asws .

Whoever is not in a position to visit Us -asws should visit the good among our Shia then the reward of visiting Us -asws will be recorded in his book of deeds.’ الحسن بن محمد الطوسي في ( مجالسه ) عن أبيه ، عن ابن الغضائري ، عن التلعكبري ، عن محمد بن همام ، عن علي بن الحسين الهمداني ، عن محمد بن خالد ، عن أبي قتادة ، عن صفوان الجمال ، عن أبي عبدالله ( عليه السلام ) ـ في حديث ـ إنه قال للمعلى بن خنيس : يا معلى ، اعزز بالله يعززك ، قال : بماذا ؟ قال : يا معلى ، خف الله يخف منك كل شيء ، يا معلى ، تحبب إلى إخوانك بصلتهم فإن الله تبارك وتعالى جعل العطاء محبة والمنع مبغضة ، فأنتم والله إن تسألوني فاعطكم فتحبوني أحب إلي من أن لا تسألوني فلا اعطيكم فتبغضوني ، ومهما أجرى الله لكم من شيء على يدي فالمحمود الله ، ولا تبعدون من شكر ما أجرى الله لكم على يدي Sheykh Hassan the son of Sheykh Toosi relates in one Hadeeth that the Holy Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq -asws said to Mo’ala bin Khanees: ‘O Mo’ala!

Align yourself to (love) Allah -azwj and He -azwj will align Himself with (love) you.’ Mo’ala asked, ‘How shall I do that?’ Imam -asws replied: ‘O Mo’ala! Be afraid of Allah -azwj and He -azwj will make everything scared of you. O Mo’ala! Do favours unto your brothers and become their beloved because Allah -azwj befriends those who do good and makes an enemy of those who return people empty handed. By God -azwj !
