[1] عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْأَضْحَى أَ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى مَنْ وَجَدَ لِنَفْسِهِ وَ عِيَالِهِ فَقَالَ أَمَّا لِنَفْسِهِ فَلَا يَدَعْهُ وَ أَمَّا لِعِيَالِهِ إِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Abdullah Bin Al Mugheira, from Abdullah Bin Sinan, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah -asws , said, ‘He -asws was asked about the sacrifice, ‘Is it Obligatory upon the one who finds it (can afford it) for himself and his dependants?’ The Imam -asws said: ‘As for himself, so he should not leave it , and as for his dependents, if he so desires to, he can neglect it’.

[2] وَ رُوِيَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‏ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْأَضْحَى فَقَالَ هُوَ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ إِلَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَقَالَ لَهُ السَّائِلُ فَمَا تَرَى فِي الْعِيَالِ قَالَ إِنْ‏ شِئْتَ‏ فَعَلْتَ‏ وَ إِنْ‏ شِئْتَ‏ لَمْ‏ تَفْعَلْ‏ وَ أَمَّا أَنْتَ فَلَا تَدَعْه‏ It was narrated by Al-Ala’ ibn Al-Fudayl that; Abu Abdullah -asws (peace be upon him), that a man asked him -asws about Al-Azha, so he -asws said: It is obligatory upon every Muslim except for he who cannot afford it.

[3] Also, in a Hadith; وَ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ص فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ‏ اللَّهِ‏ يَحْضُرُ الْأَضْحَى‏ وَ لَيْسَ‏ عِنْدِي‏ ثَمَنُ‏ الْأُضْحِيَّةِ فَأَسْتَقْرِضُ وَ أُضَحِّي فَقَالَ اسْتَقْرِضِي وَ ضَحِّي فَإِنَّهُ دَيْنٌ مَقْضِي‏ Umm Salamah -ra , came to Rasool Allah -saww , and said, “O Rasool Allah -saww , the Eid al-Azha is approaching, and I do not have the money for the sacrifice, so I will borrow and sacrifice.” Rasool Allah -saww said, take a loan and (Allah -azwj ) will provide resources to clear the debt.
