I (Majlisi) am saying, ‘It is reported by the sheykh Ahmad Bin Fahad in (the book) ‘Al Muhazzab’, and others by their chains from Al Moalla Bin Khuneys, ‘From Abu Abdullah -asws having said: ‘The day of Nerouz, it is the day in which Rasool-Allah -saww carried Amir Al-Momineen -asws upon his -saww shoulder until he -asws threw the idols of Qureysh from above the Sacred House of Allah -azwj and smashed them’’.

[3] وقد روى عن النبي انه قال لعلي سبعة عشر اسما فقال ابن عباس اخبرنا ما هي يا رسول الله ؟ فقال: اسمه عند العرب علي، وعند امه حيدرة، وفي التوراة اليا، وفي الانجيل بريا، وفي الزبور قريا، وعند الروم بظرسيا وعند الفرس نيروز، وعند العجم شميا، وعند الديلم فريقيا، وعند الكرور شيعيا، وعند الزبح حيم، وعند الحبشة تبير، وعند الترك حميرا، وعند الارمن كركر، وعند المؤمنين السحاب، وعند الكافرين الموت الاحمر، وعند المسلمين وعد، وعند المنافقين وعيد، وعندي طاهر مطهر، وهو جنب الله ونفس الله ويمين الله عزوجل قوله ويحذركم الله نفسه، وقوله بل يداه مبسوطتان ينفق كيف يشاء.

It is narrated from Ibne Abbas that Rasool Allah -asws asked Ibne Abbas: Shall I tell you Ali is known by 17 names? I replied; please inform us Prophet of Allah -saww .

Prophet -saww said: ‘His name in Arabs is Ali and his mother -asws calls him Haider -asws and in the Torah Alia, and in the Bible Baria, and in the Al-Zabor Qarria, and in Rom Bazrasia and in Persia Nouroz , the non-Arabs call him -asws Shmia, and in Africa Alyalam and Shia know him -asws as Al-Karwar and people of Northwest as Heem, people of Abyssinia Tabeer, Turks call him Humyara and Armanians Karkar and the momameen as AlSahaab and nonbelievers as AlMoat allahamr (red death), and Muslims Wad and the hypocrites as Wayeed and I -saww call him Tahir, Mutaher and Jaunb Allah and Nafs Allah and Yameen Allah is what Allah -azwj says: And Allah -azwj makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself -azwj , and both His hands are spread out, He -azwj expends them as He -azwj pleases.
