Thawāb al-Aʿmāl wa ʿiqāb al-Aʿmāl - Punishments Chapter: Punishment of exposing the defects of a believer بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی الْجَارُودِ عَنْ أَبِی بُرْدَهَ قَالَ: صَلَّی بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص ثُ٠ُسْرِعاً حَتَّی وَضَعَ یَدَهُ عَلَی بَابِ الْ٠َّ نَادَی بِأَعْلَی صَوْتِهِ یَا ٠َعْشَرَ النَّاسِ ٠َنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَ لَ٠ْ یُخْلِصْ إِلَی قَلْبِهِ لَا تَتَبَّعُوا عَوْرَاتِ الْ٠ِنِینَ فَإِنَّهُ ٠َنْ تَتَبَّعَ عَوْرَاتِ الْ٠ِنِینَ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَ ٠َنْ تَتَبَّعَ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ فَضَحَهُ وَ لَوْ فِی جَوْفِ بَیْتِهِ. 1. From the previous chain from Muhammad b. Sinan from Abi al-Jarud from Abi Burdah who said: “O those who have accepted faith apparently but the faith has not reached their hearts! Do not expose the defects of the believers. One who tries to find the faults of a believer, Allah brings out faults in him. If Allah brings out faults in a person, he will be disgraced even if he is inside the Holy Kaaba.”
