Ḥukaym ibn DÄwÅ«d ibn Ḥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn KhaťťÄb, from IbrÄhÄ«m ibn Muḥammad, from âAli ibn MuâallÄ, from IsḥÄq ibn ZiyÄd, who said: A man came to AbÄ« âAbdillÄh (Imam SÄdiq (a.s.)) and said, âI have sold all of my belongings and properties and I am thinking of moving to Makkah.â Imam (a.s.) said, âDo not do that because the people of Makkah disbelieve in AllÄh publicly.â The man asked, âWhat about the city of the Messenger of AllÄh (s.a.a.w.) (MadÄ«nah)?â Imam (a.s.) replied, âThe people there are even worse than the people of Makkah.â The man asked, âThen where should I move to?â Imam (a.s.) replied, âGo to KÅ«fah in Iraq, for verily the blessings of that land span a twelve mile radius and there is a grave in its proximity which is not visited by any anguished and grieved person without AllÄh relieving him from his anguish and grief.â
