In some traditions, a number of things are considered to be disapproved when slaughtering an animal: 1. to remove the hide of an animal before the spirit (rūḥ) has left its body; 2. to slaughter an animal in a place where a similar animal can see it being slaughtered; 3. to slaughter an animal at night or before midday (ẓuhr) on Friday. However, it is not disapproved in case of necessity; 4. for a person to slaughter a quadruped he has raised himself.
