He will be told, ‘Did we not open the door of sustenance for you?’ وعنه ، عن أبيه ، عن النوفلي ، عن السكوني ، عن أبي عبدالله ( عليه السلام ) قال : قال رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ) : أفضل الصدقة صدقة تكون عن فضل الكف Sakuni has narrated from the Holy Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq -asws who said that: ‘The Holy Prophet -saww has said that the best charity is that which is given from the wealth left over after the necessaries of life.’ وعن أبي علي الاشعرى ، عن محمد بن عبد الجبار ، عن صفوان بن يحيى ، عن عبدالأعلى ، عن أبي عبدالله ( عليه السلام ) قال :رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) : كل معروف صدقة ، وأفضل الصدقة عن (1) ظهر غنى ، وابدأ بمن تعول ، واليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى ، ولا يلوم الله على الكفاف .

Abdul A’la has narrated from the Holy Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq -asws that: ‘The Holy Prophet -saww has said that every favour is charity and the best charity is that which is given after having taken care of the necessaries of life and the upper hand is better than the lower hand and Allah -azwj does not place blame if there is nothing left over and charity is not given.

Spending in the Way of Allah -azwj محمد بن يعقوب ، عن محمد بن يحيى ، عن محمد بن الحسين ، عن صفوان ، عن أبي الحسن الرضا ( عليه السلام ) قال : دخل عليه مولى له فقال له : هل أنفقت اليوم شيئا ؟ فقال : لا والله ، فقال أبو الحسن ( عليه السلام ) : فمن أين يخلف الله علينا ؟ أنفق ولو درهما واحدا Sheykh Kulayni narrates from Safwan that a slave of the Holy Imam Ali Al Ridha -asws presented himself and the Holy Imam -asws asked him: ‘Have you spent anything today?’ he replied, ‘NO I have not!’ The Holy Imam -asws said: ‘Then how will Allah -azwj give us a manifold return.
