Charity to be given by the Poor as well as the Rich وعن الحسين بن أحمد ، عن أبيه ، عن محمد بن أحمد ، عن إبراهيم بن هاشم ، عن موسى بن أبي الحسن ، عن أبي الحسن الرضا ( عليه السلام ) قال ( 1 ) : ظهر في بني إسرائيل قحط شديد سنين متواترة ، وكان عند امرأة لقمة من خبز فوضعته في فمها لتأكله ( 2 ) فنادى السائل : يا أمةالله ، الجوع ، فقالت المرأة : أتصدق في مثل هذا الزمان ، فأخرجتها من فيها فدفعتها إلى السائل ، وكان لها ولد صغير يحتطب في الصحراء فجاء الذئب فحمله فوقعت الصيحة ، فعدت الام في أثر الذئب فبعث الله تبارك وتعالى جبرئيل ( عليه السلام ) فأخرج الغلام من فم الذئب فدفعه إلى امه ، فقال لها جبرئيل ( عليه السلام ) : يا أمة الله ، أرضيت ؟ لقمة بلقمة The Holy Imam Ali Al Ridha -asws said: ‘Once upon a time there came a drought upon the Israelites, which lasted for some years.

Among them there was a woman who only had one morsel of food which she decided to eat due to hunger. A beggar came up and said to her, ‘O slave of God, I am starving!’ The woman replied, ‘Is charity to be given even in this situation?’ She then took the morsel of food out of her mouth and gave it to him. She had a young son who had gone into the jungle to fetch some wood. A wild animal attacked the boy and started taking him away.

When the mother heard the boy screaming she started running after the wild animal. Allah -azwj then ordered the angel Jibraeel – as to descend upon the animal and rescue the young boy. Jibraeel – as then said to the woman: ‘O slave of God, are you happy with this?

A nibble for a nibble!’ محمد بن يعقوب ، عن علي بن إبراهيم ، عن أبيه ، عن ابن أبي عمير ، عن هشام بن سالم ، عن زرارة ، عن سالم بن أبي حفصة ، عن أبي عبدالله ( عليه السلام ) قال : إن الله يقول : ما من شيء إلا وقد وكلت به من يقبضه غيري إلا الصدقة ، فإني أتلقفها بيدي تلقفا حتى ان الرجل ليتصدق بالتمرة أو بشق تمرة فاربيها له كما يربي الرجل فلوه وفصيله فيأتي يوم القيامة وهو مثل احد وأعظم من احد .

The Holy Imam Ja’far Al Sadiq -asws narrated that ‘Allah -azwj Says: ‘I have appointed a creature to look after every affair except for charity which I have kept in My Hands. When a person gives in charity a date of a part of it then I look after him in the same way as you look after your young calves and camels. This charity will be like the mountain of Ohad, or even bigger on the Day of Judgment’.
