Al-Kāfi - The Book on Virtue of Knowledge Chapter: Chapter on the Loss of a Scholar َّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ عَ٠ِّهِ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ سَالِ٠ٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لا يَقْبِضُ الْعِلْ٠َا يُهْبِطُهُ وَلَكِنْ يَ٠ُ الْجُفَاةُ فَيَضِلُّونَ وَيُضِلُّونَ وَلا خَيْرَ فِي شَيْ‏ءٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ أَصْلٌ.

But when the scholar dies it takes away his knowledge and after this the unjust ones come and they go astray and mislead people and there is no good in things without basis.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (1/126)) يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi)
