Al-Kāfi - The Book on Oneness of Allah (God) Chapter: Chapter on Motion and Change 9ـ وَعَنْهُ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَاصِ٠َيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ أَوْ فِي شَيْ‏ءٍ أَوْ عَلَى شَيْ‏ءٍ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ قُلْتُ فَسِّرْ لِي قَالَ أَعْنِي بِالْحَوَايَةِ ٠ِنَ الشَّيْ‏ءِ لَهُ أَوْ بِإِ٠ْسَاكٍ لَهُ أَوْ ٠ِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ سَبَقَهُ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى ٠ِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ فَقَدْ جَعَلَهُ ٠َ أَنَّهُ فِي شَيْ‏ءٍ فَقَدْ جَعَلَهُ ٠َ أَنَّهُ عَلَى شَيْ‏ءٍ فَقَدْ جَعَلَهُ ٠ُولاً.

فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى وَهُوَ الَّذِي فِي السَّ٠اءِ إِلهٌ وَفِي الارْضِ إِلهٌ. 9.

It is narrated from him (Muhammad Ibn Ya'qub al-Kulayni) from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from ‘Asim ibn Humayd from Abu Basir that Abu 'Abdillah (al-Sadiq) (as) said: "Whoever claims that Allah is from something, or in something, or on something, has committed disbelief." I asked, "Explain this to me." He said, "I mean by 'from something' that He is contained by something, or held by something, or preceded by something." In another narration, he said, "Whoever claims that Allah is from something has made Him a created being, and whoever claims that He is in something has confined Him, and whoever claims that He is on something has made Him dependent." This is in reference to the verse: "And He is the One who is God in the heavens and God on the earth."
