Al-Kāfi - The Book about people with Divine Authority Chapter: Tacit and Explicit Testimony as proof of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali’s (a.s.) Divine Authority over the people after the Messenger of Allah َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ وَأَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي حَ٠َالِيِّ عَنْ ابي جعفر (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠ِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ لَ٠َّدٌ نُبُوَّتَهُ وَاسْتَكْ٠َهُ أَوْحَى الله تَعَالَى إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يَا ٠َّدُ قَدْ قَضَيْتَ نُبُوَّتَكَ وَاسْتَكْ٠َكَ فَاجْعَلِ الْعِلْ٠َ الَّذِي عِنْدَكَ وَالايْ٠ِ النُّبُوَّةِ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ عِنْدَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَقْطَعَ الْعِلْ٠ِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ كَ٠ِنْ ذُرِّيَّاتِ الانْبِيَاءِ.

It said, “O Muhammad, your task of prophet-hood has come to an end and the duration of your life is about to reach a close. Therefore, you must place the knowledge with you, the faith, the great name, the legacy of knowledge and the symbols of the knowledge of the prophet-hood in your family with Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.).

It is because I do not want to discontinue the knowledge, the faith, the great name, the legacy of the of knowledge and the symbols of knowledge of the prophet-hood from your posterior descendents as I had not done so with descendents of the prophets.” يخرجه - Shaykh Baqir al-Behbudi (Sahih al-Kafi) جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/269))
