Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Jaâfar ibn Muhammad who has said that Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Daynuri narrated to me from âUmar ibn Zahir from abu âAbdallah (a.s.). He has said that a man asked, âIs al-Qaâim (the one who will rise with Divine Authority) is offered the Islamic greeting as the commander of the faithful?â The Imam (a.s.) said, âNo, because that is the name that Allah had given to Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.). Allah had not given this name to anyone before him.
No one will be called with this name except an unbeliever.â I then said, âMay Allah take my soul in service for your cause, what form of Islamic greeting would be offered to him?â The Imam (a.s.) said, âThey will say, âPeace be up on you, O Baqiyya Allah (Allahâs reserved power to establish His authority on earth). He then recited, âIf you are true believers then know that the profit which God has left for you is better for you (than what you may gain through deceitful ways).
