Al-Kāfi - The Book about people with Divine Authority Chapter: The Statements and the Explicit Texts on Leadership with Divine Authority) of the Twelve Imams (a.s.) َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْخَشَّابِ عَنِ ابْنِ سَ٠َاعَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ رِبَاطٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) يَقُولُ الاثْنَا عَشَرَ الا٠ِنْ وُلْدِ رَسُولِ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) وَ٠ِنْ وُلْدِ عَلِيٍّ وَرَسُولُ الله وَعلي (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َا الْوَالِدَانِ فَقَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ كَانَ أَخَا عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ لا٠ِّهِ وَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ فَصَرَّرَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠َا إِنَّ ابْنَ أُ٠ِّكَ كَانَ أَحَدَهُ٠7.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from ‘Abdallah ibn Muhammad al-Khashshab from ibn Sama‘a from Ali ibn al-Hassan ibn Ribat from ibn ’Udhayna from Zurara that he heard Abu Ja'far (al-Baqir) (as) say: "The twelve Imams all from the family of Muhammad (sw). They are all muhadiths from the descendants of the Rasulullah and the descendants of Ali (as).

Rasulullah and Ali are their ancestors.” So he (Zurarah) said, "Ali bin Rashid was the brother of Ali bin al-Husayn (as) from his mother's side, but he (i.e. a man named Abdullah Ibn Zayd) denied this."
