Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: The Coloring (referred to in the Holy Quran) Is Islam َيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠َاعَةَ عَنْ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ ٠) فِي قَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ صِبْغَةَ الله وَ٠ِنَ الله صِبْغَةً قَالَ الصِّبْغَةُ هِيَ الإسْلا٠ُ وَقَالَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَ٠َنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوتِ وَيُؤْ٠ِنْ بِالله فَقَدِ اسْتَ٠ْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقى‏ قَالَ هِيَ الإي٠3.

Hamid ibn Ziyad has narrated from Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Sama’a from more than one person from Aban from Muhammad ibn Muslim from one of them (a.s.) who has said the following: “About the words of Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, ‘... It is the coloring of Allah.

Who has a better color than Allah’s color?’ (2:138), the Imam said, ‘Color stands for al-lslam, the religion.’ He, about the words of Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, also said, ‘Whoever then rejects the Taghut (falsehood) and establishes belief in Allah he, thus, has established his grasp securely with the strongest grip...,’ The Imam said, "It (strongest grip) means belief.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (7/70))
